Universidad de Málaga alerta : Una importante investigación para Málaga


    Los Lísperguer Wittemberg fueron una familia alemana, protegida de Carlos V, que tuvo notable protagonismo en Perú, Chile (siglo XVII) y Málaga (siglo XVII y XVIII). El experimentado investigador Daniel Piedrabuena, tras quince años de investigaciones en los principales archivos de la capital, así como varios malagueños nos ofrece esta obra, plagada de noticias sobre el desenvolvimiento y éxito de la familia Wittemberg en Málaga, así como su conexión con las importantes ramas americanas. 

    La familia Wittemberg fueron acaudalados terratenientes de Málaga, que ostentaron regidurías, se afianzaron en el Ejército, la Marina, la Iglesia y se vincularon con varios títulos nobiliarios. Asimismo, regentaron la importante compañía marítima Wittemberg y cía, que estuvo operativa a través de sus hijos y nietos durante 130 años. De la poderosa e interesante familia Wittemberg, desciende además el marqués de Valdeflores, figura icónica de la Ilustración española, por sus numerosos trabajos científicos y literarios.
